The history of the Adam Puchta Winery begins back in the 1840’s when John Henry Puchta purchased the land and 40 adjoining acres in Hermann Missouri. In 1997, OakGlenn Winery in Hermann Missouri was named for the majestic oak tree that marked the driveway in honor of the owner, Glenn. The oak tree died a natural death in 2006. It has been preserved and now proudly displays the hand carved OakGlenn name plate residing at the wine pavilion. After more than a decade of searching for the ideal location to plant a vineyard and start a new winery, Jim and Mary Dierberg came across a former dude and cattle ranch in Santa Barbara County, California. “We immediately knew that we wanted this amazing ranch,” recalled Mary of driving through the gates on that fateful day in 1996. “It was absolutely breathtaking.”
