Simon’s on the Waterfront is located in one of the city’s oldest buildings at the Missouri River in downtown Hermann. The former St. Charles Wine Hall was erected in 1867. From 1890-1923, it served as Hermann’s high school. Friday is fish fry night at Simon’s, but that is not the only time seafood is served.
Simon’s offers Hermann’s only Sunday brunch buffet. It includes an ample sampling of hot and cold items including soup and salad, fried chicken, catfish, and Steve’s famous sweet and sour meatballs. Known for his sauces and salad dressings, Steve also prepares a variety of smoked meats topped with his own BBQ sauce. And, he serves the only charbroiled prime rib in town.
Adjacent to the restaurant is a full-service bar. A musician, as well as a chef, owner Steve Simon often schedules live entertainment there ranging from blues to jazz to rock and roll.
