The Missouri Rhine Valley Association was formed to bring together artisans, food producers, hospitality and tourism professionals, local governments, wineries, vineyards, retailers who carry local products, and other entrepreneurs in the region. Local areas in the Association include Washington, New Haven, and includes the two most historic wine towns in the state – Augusta and Hermann Missouri.
The MRVA’s mission is to market, preserve and enhance heritage, culture and tourism through agricultural products, foods, wines, arts, crafts and historic sites.
Our goal is to develop a regional identity for the Missouri Rhine Valley, and use that identity to expand and market the products of the region. This approach combines support for small-scale entrepreneurs with a buy-local philosophy.
The early German settlers chose this valley along the Missouri River because it reminded them of the Rhine River valley in Germany. That German heritage is still strong today and is reflected in many festivals and events throughout the area. If you’re a local, chances are you haven’t played “tourist” in awhile and don’t realize how much there is to do and see right here in your own backyard. If you’re a visitor, welcome, and we hope you enjoy discovering the many wonders of the Missouri Rhine Valley.
