On May 10th, the Just Call Me Ray organization will host its inaugural 5K and wine tasting event. The Ray Day 5K will be located at the City Park in Hermann Missouri. All ages are welcome and corporate teams are encouraged. The 5K is a “Run, Walk, or Crawl” event. There will be a mile turnaround for those wanting a more leisurely pace. The race will begin at 8:00 am next to the campground at the park.
Each participant in the Ray Day 5K will be given a commemorative T-Shirt and $5 in Hermann Bucks. This can be used at virtually every location in Hermann. We encourage people to visit the town and endulge in the beauty and culture it has to offer.
Following the 5K, visitors to Hermann are encouraged to also sign up for the Wine For a Cure event. This will commence at 11:00 a.m. at Stone Hill Winery. There are 4 participating wineries this year: Stone Hill Winery, Adam Puchta Winery, Hermannhof, and OakGlenn Winery. Each location is offering free sampling of their wines and Stone Hill will be giving tours of their famous wine cellar.
Those taking place in the Wine For a Cure event will have their own cup with the Just Call Me Ray logo to take to each location for wine sampling. Everyone will receive a punch card to present to the different wineries for the waiving of the sampling or tour fee.
Lastly, everyone is invited that night for an evening of “Pink Drinks.” Live music will be played and everyone is invited to try the feature drinks that night in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.
All the profit made from this event will be split between two different organizations in Hermann Missouri. The Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer will be given a portion. Their main focus is helping families deal with the costs associated with cancer. The other portion will go to Raylene’s foundation. The focus of her organization is three-fold. 1) To raise awareness about early breast cancer detection. 2) To educate women about the potential dangers of breast implants. 3) Rising up when bad things happen.
Raylene Hollrah is a fighter. Some would say her battle is against cancer. Others would say it is against the system that failed to tell her the dangers of her implants. Lastly, her struggle to overcome negativity is a constant battle. All these make her a fighter, come join the fight and make our voices be heard, together we are louder.
All are invited to sign up for the event at www.rd5k.com. If you have any questions, please contact Raylene at info@justcallmeray.org.
