Perfect is the best word to describe the 2014 Hermann Missouri – Berries and BBQ Wine Trail. The weather was a huge plus when traveling to the different wineries in the Hermann area. Each winery outdid themselves with the flavors and selection for each tasting.
We started our tour of the Hermann Wine Trail locations at Röbller Vineyard. Although the lines were somewhat long on Saturday, the wait was well worth it. We couldn’t wait to savor the flavor of what was prepared. The BBQ Pork Steak Sliders paired with their Vidal Blanc set the stage for the rest of the Wine Trail. Making our way back to Hermann we visited Bias Winery and OakGlenn Vineyards and Winery. Bias’s stuffed mini burgers were grilled to perfection and the Very Berry Wine paired very nicely. OakGlenn’s Cranberry Stuffed Pork Loin was a delightful treat and you were given the choice of two different wines; a Vidal Blanc or a cinnamon wine that was a new twist on the Trail.
Coming back into Hermann we stopped and tasted at the Dierberg Star Lane and also Hermannhof Winery. The Grilled Chicken with Caper Berry and Grape Salsa paired with Star Lane’s Chardonnay was grilled wonderfully and was so tender it was almost worth repeating. Hermannhof offered a different take on the BBQ. They served a grilled Flatbread with Mascarpone and Mixed Berries. Not what we were expecting but definitely hitting a home run on taste.
Our last two stops were Stone Hill Winery and Adam Puchta (featured image). Stone Hill provided a Grilled Chicken Bruschetta Pizza paired with the Kick’n Sangria. The crunchy grilled flavor and the Sangria paired very nicely and complimented the flavors of each. Adam Puchta almost provided a full meal. Adding a twist of citrus flavor to their Sangria, Puchta offered a cool treat on summer day. The BBQ Brisket was delicious enough but added with that was a grilled corn on the cob that ended the Wine Trail on a “full” note.
Each of the wineries was pleasant to visit. The weather was optimal, the food was well thought out, and each of the paired wines went perfect with the flavors. If you missed out, we highly suggest that you attend their next Trail in November; The Holiday Fare Wine Trail. Get your tickets early!
