The Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer is having another fundraiser and this time it’s delicious; literally. Locals all over the Hermann Missouri area will gather at the Bank Bar to participate in this dancing and food event. You won’t want to miss this event or the chance to prove your pie (or cobbler) making abilities.
On July 27th, the Bank Bar will host it’s annual Bank Bar Berries and Boots Pie Contest. This is the 2nd annual event held by the Bank Bar in Hermann. Last year the event made quite a contribution to the Crusade with over $1,400 raised just through auction and T-Shirt sales.
The Bank Bar presents awards throughout the night for two different kinds of entries; pies and cobbler. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for pies. All pies must be fruit or berry flavored and no creme pies will be judged. There is also a 1st place award for best cobbler. Each of the pies will judged according to 4 different categories; presentation, flavor, crust, texture.
Support The Berries and Boots Event
There are two ways to support the Bank Bar during this event.
- Providing a pie for judging and auction – Participants are encouraged to make two identical pies and submit them to the Bank Bar directly before the event. One pie will be selected to be tasted and rated by the judges that night. The other will be placed up for auction throughout the night and the proceeds used to benefit the Crusade Against Cancer.
- Providing a pie just for auction – If you want to donate to the cause, the Bank Bar will gladly display your pie throughout the night for auction. Each participant is much appreciated by their willingness to serve this cause and community.
All guests are welcome to this event. There is no cover and no entry fee. The focus of the night will be to raise money and awareness for the local Crusade. Girls are encouraged to wear their cute boots to help “Stomp Out Cancer” and stomp the night away. Musical guests include One Fish, Blues Fish and Family Band. They will be playing in honor of Nina Fisher.
A very pleasant addition to this event is that Amarita Rawat will be judging the pie contest. Amarita writes a column called Baked for Sauce Magazine. Amarita also bakes for Whisk, a sustainable bake shop in St. Louis.
If you are interested in donating to the cause, please have your pies or cobbler prepared and submitted to the Bank Bar by 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th. This event coincides with the Berries and Barbecue Wine Trail located at several award winning wineries in Hermann Missouri.
