February has been most noted as a month of love. With winter weather slowly (and in Hermann seems to be a crawl) warming up, people come out of hibernation; sometimes with reluctance, other times with great enthusiasm. Pinckney Bend – Hermann Chocolate Wine Trail 2014
Although Pinckney Bend Distillery was not officially on the Hermann Missouri Chocolate Wine Trail, we noticed that they honor wine trail tickets so we took a small detour to the New Haven Arts District. The staff there was so helpful and friendly and even let us enter and sample their spirits before their official opening time. Each of the spirits sampled was excellent quality. They even provided chocolate treats to try with their Rested American Whiskey. They then gave us a great tour of the facility. Overall, we were very pleased with their service and product. Pinckney Bend Distillery
Pinckney Bend was a navigational hazard well-known to generations Missouri River boatmen. Located at mile marker 83 above St. Louis, it is the site of a once-thriving town long since disappeared, and a stretch of river where at least five 19th century steamboats were wrecked, including the famous side-wheeler Spread Eagle.
